Our legacy & impact
NINE runs on 100% renewable energy through British provider, Good Energy. For the financial year 2022-2023, we have measured and reduced our carbon emissions by 30% and have offset the remaining unavoidable Scope 1 & 2 emissions through our partner Pinwheel, making NINE a Carbon Neutral business.
Our philanthropic endeavours mean we are committed to donating 5% of our annual pre-tax revenue to a charity or foundation which aligns with our fundamental beliefs. For the financial year 2022-2023 we donated €10,000 to The Sea People, a small charity committed to rehabilitating coral reef based in Indonesia’s Raja Ampat, an area of South East Asian seas containing the richest marine biodiversity on earth. NINE’s first annual donation will support 500m2 of restored coral reef and employ 10 employees for 2-3 months.
Continuing our philanthropic approach, we encourage members to donate to our own fund, Coconut Club, which was launched in 2022 to raise money for a foundation or charity, which we select at the end of each year. To date, £4,000 has been raised and will be donated at the beginning of 2025.
Impact commitment statements:
- We commit to purchasing core products (at least 50% of non-labour expenses) from independent suppliers local (within 50 miles) to our company headquarters in London
- We are formally committed to donate 5% of revenues to charitable partners each year
The Conscious Travel Foundation
Proud members since January 2023, the Foundation launched in 2021 with the primary goal to use travel as a force for good and to collaborate, educate and advocate for a more meaningful, sustainable tourism industry – protecting the planet and spreading the narrative around responsible travel to our peers and the public. A community think-tank and a conduit to industry experts and innovators, helping members to increase their positive impact on landscapes, wildlife, cultures and communities across the globe. To date, NINE has contributed over £6,000 in auction funding.

Client journeys
Travel emits approximately 8% of the world’s carbon emissions so our members’ journeys have an important role to play when considering the climate emergency. Everything from reducing connecting flights, recommending train journeys where possible, and choosing electric transfers and walking tours can eliminate unnecessary carbon emissions without impacting the excitement of the journey.
Following each trip, in partnership with Pinwheel, we provide members with the opportunity to contribute to a roster of carefully-vetted carbon reduction funds whilst giving them the choice of which project to invest in so they are actively involved in the decision-making. This initiative was only launched in August 2024 but to date has raised almost £4,000 in funds.
